Sainsbury's School Games Gold Mark AwardGOLD Kite Mark Award for PE

We are extremely proud to have achieved the GOLD standard Kite Mark award for our PE provision for three consecutive years.

The School Games Mark is an awards scheme which rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school. Ofsted use the Mark award as part of their inspection framework and schools can use it as a development tool to aid PE their teacher or Headteacher.

Steve, our PE teacher from South Coast Sports (SCS), supported by Ross, teach excellent lessons across the school and improve not only the levels of physical activity of our children, but their skill and motivation levels too in an extensive variety of sports such as Basketball, Handball, Netball, Football, Tag Rugby, Cricket, Gymnastics, Hockey, Rounders, Tennis, & Athletics.

We aim for every child in Years 1-6 to take part in at least one physical activity club each week.  Our wide range of extremely popular sports and physical activity clubs includes Netball, Infant Ballet, Junior Street Dance, Fencing. Athletics, Infant & Junior Football, Stoolball, Infant Ball Games, Multi Sports, "Go Wild", Wacky Races (selected pupils) and Kinball (selected pupils), plus Cross Country & Cricket Clubs which run before school. Click here to view our full list of After-School & Morning Clubs

We actively encourage pupils to write match reports, as well as sharing their achievements from sports/physical activities they are involved in outside school. A selection of these can be found below and on the PE noticeboard in school.

Whole school picnic and sports activities to celebrate the completion of our new artificial turf (July 6th)

On a gloriously sunny (and incredibly hot) Friday morning, the whole school celebrated the much anticipated opening of our new artificial turf with a wonderful selection of games and activities ranging from Street Dance to Space Hoppers, Kinball to Table Tennis, Sand Play to Giant Garden Games ... and more, followed by a shared picnic lunch!

We were delighted to welcome Mary Habershon whose family have kindly gifted the school the land. Befittingly, the field has been named "Mary's Field".

Y5/6 Festival of Sport at Twineham (June 18th)

"Our school and 9 other schools chose pupils to represent their school in a NEARS sports event on the 18th of June 2018 taking place in Twineham Primary School. In the event we did a multitude of sports and activities including football, tennis and rugby and lots more. Instead of our school being put in to one team we were in separate teams named after countries in the 2018 World Cup."

Handcross Hall of Fame

This year Gymnasts, Swimmers and Horse Riders have featured in our Hall of Fame to tell us more about their out of school sporty interests and to celebrate some of their competitive achievements.

With the summer holidays to look forward to and opportunities to try new sports/physical activities or to spend even more time doing those you already enjoy, we would love to hear about them when we come back in September. If you or a group of like minded sporty friends would like to feature in the Hall of Fame on the website and PE noticeboard, please talk to Mrs Aylett or Mrs Cribb.

Enjoy the summer and ... stay Safe, Happy and Aiming High!
