Sainsbury's School Games Gold Mark AwardGOLD Kite Mark Award for PE

We are extremely proud to have achieved the GOLD standard Kite Mark award for our PE provision for three consecutive years.

The School Games Mark is an awards scheme which rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school. Ofsted use the Mark award as part of their inspection framework and schools can use it as a development tool to aid PE their teacher or Headteacher.

Steve, our PE teacher from South Coast Sports (SCS), supported by his apprentice Ross, teach excellent lessons across the school and improve not only the levels of physical activity of our children, but their skill and motivation levels too in an extensive variety of sports such as Basketball, Handball, Netball, Football, Tag Rugby, Cricket, Gymnastics, Hockey, Rounders, Tennis, & Athletics.

We aim for every child in Years 1-6 to take part in at least one physical activity club each week.  Our wide range of extremely popular sports and physical activity clubs includes Netball, Infant Ballet, Junior Street Dance, Tag Rugby, Infant & Junior Football, Gymnastics, Infant Ball Games, Multi Sports, "Go Wild", Wacky Races (selected pupils), Kinball (selected pupils) and Cross Country (before school). Click here to view our full list of After-School Clubs

We actively encourage pupils to write match reports, as well as sharing their achievements from sports/physical activities they are involved in outside school. A selection of these can be found below and on the PE noticeboard in school.

Despite the snow and heavy rain this term, we have taken part in a variety of competitive fixtures, as well as running our wide range of

after school activities.

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who have

helped with transport to off site events - your continued support is

very much appreciated by us all!

NEARS Y3/4 Festival of Sport (March 12th, Twineham)

On a rainy, sunny, windy afternoon Noah D, Sai, Leon, Abdul, Ellie E, Erykah, Jasmine W, September, Oscar and Willow W took part in
this year's event. Pupils were split into 10 teams, with most teams having 1 pupil from each school.

All teams took part in a carousel of 9 skills based around the following sports: hockey, volleyball, tri-golf, tennis, lacrosse, fencing, lacrosse, football and cricket

Points were awarded and the team with the highest score won. Team 7 won overall - Sai was our representative.

Once their initial nerves and uncertainties settled, everyone clearly enjoyed the afternoon and the experience of representing their school at a sports event. Several recognised an old classmate from another school: most interacted with their team mates and came away saying that they’d made a new friend and/or tried something new.

All left feeling proud of their achievements.

Handcross Hall of Fame

Are you a horse rider, golfer or rock climber? A Thai boxer or martial artist? Play badminton, bowls, cricket or tennis? Are you a dancer or diver? Or perhaps you have other sporty interests that you enjoy out of school. We would love to hear all about them in our "Handcross Hall of Fame" here and on the PE noticeboard - please talk to Mrs Aylett or Mrs Cribb if you, or a group of likeminded pupils who take part in the same sport too, would like to feature.
