Absence

If your child is ill and unable to attend school, please notify the school by telephone or in person at the beginning of the first day of absence. The school has a policy of ringing parents if children have not arrived at school at the designated time and notification of absence has not been received. This ensures the safety of your children.

In line with the other schools in the Locality, the Governors and Staff will not allow holidays in term time because they seriously disrupt the learning programmes of the children. Holidays during term time will not be authorised unless there are extenuating circumstances. Any request for absence must be detailed in a letter and sent to the Governors and they will consider requests that involve such extenuating circumstances.

We take a pride in our very good attendance rates. Last year, 25 children achieved 100% attendance. This is an unusual achievement.

The percentage of sessions (half days) missed through absence in the year 2014/15 was 3.11% This places us in the top category for good attendance.
